NFL Week 1 Information

The 2024 NFL has officially started and week 1 did not fail us per usual with the 16 games played. Week 1 allows the NFL world to see what all 32 teams around the league have been conjuring up since the end of last season. In today's post I will walk us through what happened in week 1, what we now know after just 1 game, as well as the 'O So Expected' and quite head turning 'Didn't See That Coming' revelations around the league. Let's start with the season opening rematch between last season's AFC Championship contenders along with the MVP favorite's Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. In previous matchups Mahomes has owned Lamar for a head to head record of 4-1; after Thursday's season opener Mahomes added to his lead making the head to head split 5-1. While both Quarterbacks played tremendous totaling nearly 750 yards combined, Lamar and the Ravens made a push on the last drive of the game while down 20-27; with the clock hitting 0 to end the game Lamar made a pass to Isaiah Likely in the Endzone which referee's initially called a Touchdown to secure Ravens and company the ability to win the game on a 2 point attempt. However after further review Officials told us Isaiah Likely's foot was slightly out of bounds reversing the Touchdown in favor of Kansas City and Mahomes ending the thrilling season opener. We also seen Dallas Cowboys have another very strong start to the season in a 33-17 game vs what looked like a weak version of itself in the Cleveland Browns. The 5th best Dallas Defense played very well against a struggling Deshaun Watson whom Cleveland just signed a 5 year Contract for $230 Million-very worrisome for Cleveland because if you pour that much money into a player you hope to get your return on investment especially when it comes to QB performance- nonetheless Dak Prescott and the Dallas Offense looked strong on the road against the 3rd best Defense in the League. This is exciting for Dallas fans since Dallas just made Dak Prescott The Highest Paid Player in NFL History with a 4 year Contract worth $240 Million just hours before the game. The Saints beat the Panthers 47-10 which is exactly how Saints would've hoped to start this season coming off last season and exactly how the Panthers would've hoped this season didn't start. The high hopes on 2nd year Panthers quarterback Bryce Young have not panned out after a rocky rookie season- it still looks rocky after all - and are starting to worry if he was the right fit for the team with a bad week 1 to start his sophomore campaign. The Lions won in overtime on a Sunday night thriller over the Rams in a playoff rematch from last year. Surprise! Surprise! The Bears beat the Titans in a Defensive rally to help 1st Round Draft pick Quarterback Caleb Williams win in his NFL debut. While Caleb Williams didn't turn the ball over which is a huge win for The Bears in his development he also didn't play great just totaling 93 yards with a 48% completion percentage, with that said every game that the Bears win because their quarterback didn't lose it for them is a win. Big Bears win. Steelers are very excited after getting the win and ending the debate of whether Justin Fields or Russel Wilson would start- They gave Justin Fields the reigns week 1- vs a Atlanta team expected be really good. Finally, Packers fan gasped as they lost week 1 to the Eagles but that isn't what scares them it's the fact that their star quarterback Jordan Love who they expect to lead them to a great season left the game with a knee injury. Turns out Jordan Love suffered a MCL sprain which is probably the best news for the Packers organization because he's only expected to miss 3-6 games. Meaning Love will be back soon enough to keep them in the post season race. That just about wraps up all the information week 1 of the NFL season has to offer
